The DEM fades out at its edge instead of falling off it

MRDEM follows watersheds, so its coverage ends in a hard line: a cliff of shading along the US border and in the fjords where the data stopped. The archive was rebuilt so elevation eases to sea level over the last 20 km of coverage, and the hillshade with it.

• canada-dem.pmtiles rebuilt in place from the local MRDEM-30 COG on 2026-09-09 (1.13 M tiles, z0 to 12, 39.9 GB); styles now emit /terrain/4/
• The hillshade exaggeration follows zoom on every style: gentle at z5, strongest at z13, gone by z16
• The coverage spill across the US border is still not US coverage; it is now simply less visible
