view-explorer: can you see the Rockies from this home

A new page block, view-explorer, opens the view from any Calgary building as a 3D surface toward the mountains, scored, with the skyline and 15 named summits it would show.

  • view-explorer: click any building in 3D Calgary, or one of four sample spots, and the view from its window opens west as one surface in the air, bright where it meets the mountains and fading where a nearer hill cuts it short.
  • The panel scores the view, draws the skyline from that window, and marks 15 named summits in sight or hidden. A Downtown toggle draws one sight line to the towers instead.
  • Every height comes from the map's own terrain tiles, read in the browser, with the Earth's curve and refraction accounted for.
